Hazel Iris im ThursdaySoundStream

Avant-Pop & Indie-Folk artist Hazel Iris weaves together lyrics and instrumentation to create sonic tapestries of social and emotional commentary á la Kate Bush, Tori Amos, and Joan Baez.

Her latest album Nine Sisters was recorded at Hollywood’s famous Sunset Sound Studio and was haled by the Sound Shark as “Ushered in with a twist of heart-warming eccentricity, this classically trained and extraordinarily talented spirit explores ethereal folk strolls, upbeat pomp and splendour and haunting but touching ballads, while effortlessly blurring the lines of indie, electronic, folk, and classical music with the wave of her wand.”

With a background in classical music, her work is inspired by the richly layered storytelling patterns in Chanson and Folk.

Coming to Theater im Kino in the format of an intimate trio with cellist/composer Natasha Jaffe and accordionist Valentin Butt (Staatsoper Unter den Linden), the sounds of this Berlin-based Indie troubadour carry her audiences on intimate journeys of expressive exploration.

Wer aufmerksam durch Berlin stolpert hat es mitbekommen, die Stadt ist ein Magnet für junge, verrückte, talentierte und interessante Musiker. Mit etwas Glück sieht man auf der Warschauer Brücke oder in einem Kneipenhinterzimmer an einem Abend mehr Talent als das ganze Jahr im Fernsehen.
Wir wollen diesen Musikern eine Bühne geben.
