DESCRIPTION:ThursdaySounds like Flora Hibberd and Interbellum\n \n\nEin Doppelkonzert!\n\n\n\n\n\nInterbellum is the project of Lebanese singer-songwriter Karl Mattar. The project blends elements of folk\, noise pop\, garage rock and ambient music into an idiosyncratic mix centered on Mattar’s songwriting. The first iteration of the group released the lo-fi guitar driven Now Try Coughing and played its first shows in Beirut in 2016. Sophomore album Dead Pets\, Old Griefs (2018\, Ruptured) expanded the project’s palette considerably\, adding synthesizers\, samples and electronics to the mix. Recorded with producer Fadi Tabbal at Tunefork Studios\, the album was released by Lebanese indie label Ruptured to international acclaim. \nThe project and album have made best-of lists in the Arab world and beyond\, receiving praise from publications like Gold Flake Paint\, The Wire and GQ Middle East among many others. Interbellum performed at leading Lebanese indie festival Wickerpark Festival in 2018 and played over 50 shows in Europe the following year in support of the album. DESCRIPTION:Experimentik #68\n\n\nJulie Rousse / Pierce Warnecke\n\n\n \n\n\n\nSolo x 2\nJulie Rousse – laptop\, sound card\, controllers\, tape recorders\, loop pedal\nPierce Warnecke –electronics\n\n\n\n\nJulie Rousse\nHer work is diverse and expressed through several different experimental music projects based on improvisation : live performances\, sound installations\, electroacoustic compositions\, music scores for dance\, performance\, films\, visual artists and photo documentaries. \nPassionate phonographer and noise lover\, she is always looking for new sonic sources in her worldwide travels\, exploring the possibilities of sound capturing in specifically chosen contexts\, working with different recording devices. She oscillates between the purity of the recordings and a special attraction for archaic\, lo-fi machines. She uses that sonic collection – in an experimental process – as her raw material\, an infinite source of rhythms and colors which she shapes with a real time sound treatment software – real time being the essential element of her spontaneous and chaotic approach. She digs in the sound – intruding in the detail – exploring in search of new textures of raw sounds. \nIn 2015\, she was Laureate of the Institut Français programme Hors les Murs\, for a3 months stay for a research around the musical culture of the Mapuche people autochtones from the south of Chile. \nWith Félicie d’Estienne d’Orves\, they created the monumental audiovisual installation EXO – Spatio-Temporal Archeology\, inviting the audience to turn towards the sky and contemplate while listening to the multiphonics spatialized compositions the Julie created for each objects pointed by Felicie’s lasers. \nSince 2018 she is living in Marseille. DESCRIPTION:ThursdaySounds like Rowan Coupland & Carolina Lee\n\nRowan Coupland is a singer\, harpist and guitarist. English-born\, but Berlin-based\, he sings soaring and intricate modern folksongs filtered through noise\, avant-garde poetry\, and the sounds of snow falling through urban smog. After establishing himself in Brighton’s indie-folk scene\, and becoming a member of the influential Willkommen collective\, he left the UK\, eventually settling in Berlin\, where he began to write songs of urban decay and regeneration\, abandoned hospitals filled with Asbestos Ghosts and foxes\, and the city night time. \nFollowing the release of the two Berlin albums\, Asbestos Ghosts (cassette) and Circuit (risograph book/CD)\, he has since released 5 Harp Pieces\, as well as collaborations with Berlin’s Ben Osborn\, Leipzig’s Malo Moray\, and appearances on the tape compilation The Sunday Matinee. The songs draw the audience down into the deep end – to be carried by a sound that corresponds with the past and is still completely at ease in a melancholy and playful present. The song lyrics often deal with themes like farewell\, sadness\, alienation\, and longing. A tension is created that is sometimes reminiscent of the dark timbre of Karen Dalton or the dreamy simplicity of Mazzy Star. In 2021 the band from Berlin released their debut `Haunted Houses´. \nHaunted Houses is not a homage to other musicians. It is a dreamy\, independent\, and sometimes stubborn debut album. DESCRIPTION:ThursdaySounds like Scott Hildebrand\n\nScott Hildebrand is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist\, whose music pulls from genres such as the Chicago Blues of his hometown\, as well as Indie Folk\, Americana and Rock & Roll. Through his musical journeys he strives to inspire open-mindedness and ignite the adventurous flame in the hearts of his listeners. His earthy voice is accompanied by his expressive guitar and harmonica playing. As he travels the world making music on what he calls his “Endless World Tour\,” he has the ability to find deep connection and share openly with audiences.   \nIn 2014\, he began his journey as a full-time musician in Seoul\, Korea\, playing shows\, busking\, writing and releasing music. Since then he has continued to perform and create music in the USA\, Australia\, India\, Germany\, Guatemala and many other places.  \nWith six digital singles and two EPs released\, he has gained international attention\, and opened for artists such as; Josh Thompson in Chicago\, Tones and I at the Byron Bay Arts Factory in Australia and John Craigie in Berlin. Scott has performed at festivals such as the FRL festival in Australia\, Folklorum in Germany to shows in intimate settings such as Sofar Sounds shows and many others throughout Europe. Scott has performed live on TBS FM Seoul\, and KCSB FM Santa Barbara\, Radio Fritz rbb Germany. \nIn 2021\, he won the Acorn Songwriter Competition. Scott’s rendition of the 1960s anti-war classic\, “Eve of Destruction” was used in the Hollywood movie\, THE TRIAL OF THE CHICAGO 7. \nActor Chris Hemsworth\, in his Instagram video\, featured Scott’s song “Ready to Fly.” This video was broadcast on BBC\, ABC\, and other major global media outlets. \nSince 2019\, when not on the road\, Scott has based himself in the music scene of Berlin. He recorded Under Wraps EP that is now available and currently is performing and releasing music with his duo “SCOTT & LILA \nhttp://www.scotthildebrandmusic.com/#band-section \n\n\nWird ein schöner Abend im Tik !!!\n\n \n \nTHURSDAY SOUNDS: – Singer/Songwriter Konzerte im Tik\, ab 21.00 Uhr\nJeden Donnerstag ein Konzert mit einem Singer/Songwriter oder einer kleinen Band.\nWer aufmerksam durch Berlin stolpert hat es mitbekommen\, die Stadt ist ein Magnet für junge\, verrückte\, talentierte und interessante Musiker. Mit etwas Glück sieht man auf der Warschauer Brücke oder in einem Kneipenhinterzimmer an einem Abend mehr Talent als das ganze Jahr im Fernsehen.\nWir wollen diesen Musikern eine Bühne geben.\n \nTHURSDAY SOUNDS:\nEvery Thursday we have a concert with a Singer/Songwriter or a small band.\nIt’s Berlin nowadays: The City has become a magnet to musicians from all over the world or from just around the corner. Creatvity and talent is on the street playing for small change\, on the stages of open mics or maybe in the bar in your street.\nThe Tik has a stage for these musicians\, every thursday.
