DESCRIPTION:ThursdaySounds like Michael Brinkworth\n\n\n\nBerlin-based Australian alt-country-folk-rock troubadour\, Michael Brinkworth\, writes and sings in the tradition of the timeless greats. Imagine Neil Young\, The Band\, The Rolling Stones\, Springsteen\, Dylan and Waits all taking a road trip through the Australiana heartland\, with Wilco and The Replacements on the stereo all along the way. \nCutting his teeth tirelessly busking\, hitch-hiking\, touring and gigging anywhere he could all over the world for years on end\, Brinkworth’s backpack is stuffed full of hook-heavy\, heart-felt and road-worn songs. Rhythmic country guitar\, entrancing harmonica and a soulful voice combine to take the listener on a journey and expose the rawness at the heart of his songwriting – vulnerable\, sincere\, and as honest as an old pair of traveller’s boots. \nAfter several self-released albums under various other projects and two earlier EPs\, Brinkworth released his debut album\, “Somewhere To Run From” with Berlin indie label\, Greywood Records in 2017. He toured these releases heavily across Europe\, Australia and North America between 2015 and 2019\, averaging over 100 shows a year during this time. Brinkworth’s last album\, released in 2021\, „Wasted Wonder“\, received widespread critical acclaim from numerous publications\, including Folk Radio UK\, For Folk’s Sake\, Americana UK\, and well over 150k Spotify streams\, several singles also got airplay on Berlin’s Radio Eins and KCRW\, and Australia’s Triple J\, ABC and 4ZZZ. Brinkworth spent most of 2022 focused on an indie-rock side-project formed with fellow troubadour mate\, Pip Fluteman\, „Almost Has-Beens“\, whom true to their name went on permanent hiatus before releasing their debut album. Kicking off with a short tour in Australia\, whilst Brinkworth spent the rest of 2023 keeping busy with other things in life\, whilst stockpiling songs for his 3rd and 4th LPs\, one more rock’n’roll and one more stripped-down. Slowly but surely through 2024 whilst juggling lots of other work and life commitments (which goes with the territory of any algorithmically-exiled self-funded independent artist these days)\, Brinkworth has been recording both these albums with many bandmates and old friends in various locations. Mit etwas Glück sieht man auf der Warschauer Brücke oder in einem Kneipenhinterzimmer an einem Abend mehr Talent als das ganze Jahr im Fernsehen.\nWir wollen diesen Musikern eine Bühne geben. \n \nTHURSDAY SOUNDS:\nEvery Thursday we have a concert with a Singer/Songwriter or a small band.\nIt’s Berlin nowadays: The City has become a magnet to musicians from all over the world or from just around the corner. Creatvity and talent is on the street playing for small change\, on the stages of open mics or maybe in the bar in your street.\nThe Tik has a stage for these musicians\, every thursday.
